Crete 2019, A Slice of Paradise!

SDC Travel Crete 2019
SDC Travel Crete 2019
For the fourth time, SDC gathered on the beautiful Greek island of Crete: a place where warm sea breezes, golden sunsets, and carefree nights created the perfect backdrop for connection and celebration.

Crete has a way of capturing people's hearts. While many vistors arrive thinking mostly about beaches, the island offers so much more. Some guests spend their days exploring winding roads that lead to ancient ruins, stopping at small cafes for honey-infused raki and fresh feta, or taking in views of distant snow-touched mountains. Others were perfectly content simply watching the sun melt into the sea each evening.

It didn't take long before many of us realized we had fallen a little in love with the island.

May 2019: The Island Gathering

May had become a special month for these gatherings, and in 2019 the SDC Travel Team once again hopped across the sky to Crete for another unforgettable edition of SDC on Crete.

By then, the event had firmly established itself as one of the Mediterranean's most anticipated lifestyle gatherings. Couples from around the world arrived, bringing with them a vibrant mix of cultures, personalities, and stories. Local and international performers, dancers, DJs, and educators added even more energy to the experience.

The owners of the four-star resort that hosted the event always seemed genuinely delighted to welcome the crowd each year. Seeing them laughing, chatting, and ocassionally dancing alongside guests, especially when the traditional Sirtaki music started playing, added to the warm, communal feeling that defined the week.

Days by the Pool, Nights to Remember

That year the main pool had been blissfully heated, and a large jacuzzi quickly became a favorite gathering spot. It was the kind of place where conversations stretched long into the evening and laughter carried across the water.

The resort staff handled everything with impressive ease. They seemed to understand the rhythm of the event perfectly: attentive without being intrusive, always ready with a smile, and a fresh drink, or a helpful suggestion.

Meals were generous, drinks flowed freely, and once the resort gates closed for the night, the atmosphere shifted into something more private and celebratory. The outside world faded away for a while, replaced by music, dancing, and shared the energy of hundreds of people enjoying the moment together.

A New Experience: The Master Boudoir

One of the new additions that year was something the team called the "Master Boudoir." It introduced guests to a themed space inspired by classic dungeon aesthetics, though the experience was intentionally designed to remain welcoming and educational rather than intimidating.

Many visitors stepped inside out of curiosity, guided by experienced hosts who focused on explaining techniques, tools, and the philosophy behind them. It quickly became one of the week's most talked-about spaces, with guests lining up each evening to explore something new.

Familiar Faces and Playful Moments

Each evening also brought a bit of theatrical fun, with guests never knowing who might appear next. A playful Freddie Mercury performance one night, an enthusiastic Ozzy Osbourne impersonation the next, and of course the ever-charismatic Austin Powers making sure no one lost their mojo during the '70s themed party.

Workshops during the day also gave couples space to reconnect and explore new ideas about intimacy and communication, with many guests describing those moments as unexpectedly meaningful highlights of the trip.

The Last Sunset

Like all great gatherings, the week seemed to pass far too quickly.

Before anyone was quite ready, departure day arrived. Suitcases were packed, taxis waited outside, and friends old and new exchanged hugs and promises to meet again somewhere in the world.

As the final evening faded, many guests found themselves back on the beach one last time, watching the Cretan sun disappear into the sea, already knowing the island would call them back again someday.
