A Day at the Pool
When my wife and I were dating, I told her about a local Nudist/Swinger hotel that had a Rooftop pool, and that it was clothing optional.
We had had a couple swap experiences under our belts, but she still had her walls up. Being a BBW, and raised in a very religious household, she looked at me one afternoon and said, "I don't care what you do, but I'm not getting naked."
I told her that was fine. Part of what makes a relationship in the lifestyle work is communication, respect, and boundaries. We packed a bag with towels, suntan lotion, a suit for her, some water and hard ciders, and got in the car.
Before we drove away, she looked at me again.
"I'm serious," she said. "I'm not getting naked. If that's a problem, you can go without me."
I smiled and assured her I was okay — that there would be other people there in various states of dress, and whatever she decided was cool.
We parked, and of course, before getting out of the car, she started to say it again. I stopped her. I just told her that if she didn't want to go, we could go home. It was Labor Day weekend. I planned to be there only a couple of hours.
She said she wanted to check the place out, and as long as the vibe was cool, she was good.
We walked into a tiny lobby, paid the day rate, and went to wait for the world's slowest elevator. While we stood there, I told her I just needed to use the bathroom on the second floor, and then we'd head up to the roof pool. It took almost five minutes to get there, and when the doors opened, she went a little shell-shocked.
The hotel was designed so that all the rooms faced inward toward a central open area. People were walking all around — fully naked. The room I stepped into had a giant bed in the center, a row of couches along the outside walls, and a big TV playing hardcore porn. When I came out of the bathroom, I was wearing only my hat, sunglasses, and sandals.
She looked at me.
"You're not going to walk around like that?"
I told her I was, and got the famous speech one more time.
We waited for the elevator again. The doors opened and a few people stepped off — naked — and greeted us warmly. She just stared.
Getting to the roof felt like it took twenty minutes. We stepped out into a covered breezeway, and just before the deck, there was a sign:
Caution — beyond this point you may encounter nude sunbathers.
I took her by the hand, and we found two of the last open lounge chairs by the pool.
I dropped our bag, spread out the towels, and started putting on sunscreen. She laughed at me — I never use the stuff. I told her that when parts of the body that never see sun suddenly see sun, you need it. I made sure to cover Mr. Happy and had her spray my back and backside. Then I grabbed a cider and got in the pool.
When I made my way over to her chair a little while later, she was nearly in a daze. I asked if everything was okay. She just nodded.
Then she stood up.
I figured she was heading to the bathroom to change into her suit.
Nope.
She reached down, took off her dress, her bra, and her panties, tucked them into the bag, and jumped right over me into the pool.
Now I was the one completely dumbfounded.
I looked at her and started to say, "...but I thought —"
She stopped me.
"I'm a woman," she said, "and I'm allowed to change my mind. Now grab me a cider."
I reminded her to put on sunscreen. She said she didn't need it.
Well. We started talking and talking, meeting people, losing track of time — and before we knew it, a few hours had stretched into dusk. She ended up with what looked like a near-third-degree sunburn on her chest, practically into the nipple. But she had a blast.
When I asked later what had changed her mind, she thought about it for a moment.
"I saw such a variety of people," she said. "All ages. All body types. All just having fun. I realized I fit in too."
We became regulars after that. A few weeks later, some friends invited us to a pool party. When I asked where her suit was, she didn't even look up.
"We're going to a pool," she said. "Why would I need a suit?"
